SUMMARY
kmymoney cannot open any file.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. brew tap kde-mac/kde
2. brew install kde-mac/kde/kmymoney
3. /usr/local/Cellar/kmymoney/5.0.3/bin/kmymoney.app/Contents/MacOS/kmymoney

OBSERVED RESULT
WebConnect: Try to connect to WebConnect server
WebConnect: Connect to server failed
WebConnect: Running in server mode
Couldn't start kuiserver from org.kde.kuiserver.service: QDBusError("org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown", "The name org.kde.kuiserver was not provided by any .service files")
kf5.kio.core: couldn't create slave: "Unknown protocol 'file'."

Can not find 'kioslave' executable and "Unknown protocol 'file'. seems like different issues for me.

Though using Qt standard functions to open files instead of KIO as specified in https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=400761 can be a workaround for both issues.
