Description leftcrane 2019-03-19 12:33:14 UTC
related to global shortcut search: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=405640

I find myself opening system settings very often to refresh my memory regarding particular shortcuts. But system settings don't work too well as cheat sheet, and moreover lack the ability to search all shortcuts.

Unity had a simple desktop shortcut cheat-sheet that you could pull with a hotkey. This was useful because people forget shortcuts all the time, if they even know they exist at all.

I think being able to search all shortcuts from Krunner would be even better. All shortcuts have short descriptions too, perhaps you could show that as well next to the name of the shortcut.

Gnome pretty much has this too cause you can bind a key to Settings/Shortcuts and pull up what is essentially a searchable cheat sheet. KDE unfortunately doesn't have anything like this.

+1, I too would like a "shortcuts runner".

Is this still a thing, considering that BUG 250121 has added a really good search feature?

@ngraham If we would like to implement sth. like this it fells like a good opportunity to add a dbus runner interface to kglobalaccel5. That is where the shortcuts are registered and the daemon is already running.

That makes a lot of sense.

I also think that the original idea of adding a sort of cheat sheet would be nice too, independent of this.
