in KMail settings / Accounts / Identities tab, open the relevant settings, click on the "Advanced" tab. What's the "Templates folder" value?
Fair point. I'd forgotten that it is configurable. Thank you. Setting it as I want does make it work the way I want. However, those messages/templates in the "Local folders" folder still can't be deleted or moved (whereas those in the templates folder [the place I picked] can be).
The thing is, "Local folders" (the root folder) cannot be selected under normal circumstances. Am I right thinking you deleted your akonadi database and reconfigured everything? To remove these bogus template, you can use the akonadiconsole debugging tool: - On the "Browser" tab, find the "Local Folders" collection, right click / Folder Properties - In these settings, open the ACL tab. You should only have "Create" checked To remove the templates, check "Modify" and "Delete" on both lines, then OK. After removing the templates, restore the previous state on the ACL tab. Only create should be enabled.
Deleted and reconfigured? No, not at all. I've been running this setup has been running for 3 or 4 years now without any major change. Is the "set the template folder" option new? All my accounts have it set as "Local Folders". I certainly haven't set them to that. I don't remember being aware of this setting, but it's possible I've just forgotten. This *might* be the first time I've attempted to use a template. Thanks for the deletion info &tc.
> Is the "set the template folder option new?" The identity settings exist since ages :) They didn't change much since the KMail 1.xx era.
