Description Karl Ove Hufthammer 2019-03-09 23:07:57 UTC
SUMMARY
When you launch the wallpaper settings window (by right-clicking on the desktop and selecting ‘Configure Desktop’), minimise the window (so that it’s hidden) and relaunch it, *nothing* happens. That is, the window remains minimised, its icon on the task bar doesn’t start blinking, and there is no feedback of any kind that your action had an effect.

From the user’s perspective, it looks like the ‘Configure Desktop’ action on the desktop menu is plain broken. This has happened to me several times, I’m always confused (sometimes I open the wallpaper settings, minimise it, and hours later try to open it again, only to find it broken).

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Right-click on desktop and select ‘Configure Desktop’.
2. Minimize the wallpaper config windows that pops up (by clicking the minimize button on the toolbar).
3. Repeat step 1.

OBSERVED RESULT
Nothing at all happens.

EXPECTED RESULT
The wallpaper window should be restored/displayed.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
KDE Plasma Version: 5.15.2
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.55.0
Qt Version: 5.12.0

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I have the focus stealing prevention setting set to ‘Low’ (but setting it to ‘None’ instead have no effect).

Can't reproduce. Window unminimizes (or at least lights up in taskbar) fine. Are you on Wayland?
Comment 2 Øystein Steffensen-Alværvik 2019-03-12 10:41:52 UTC
I can reproduce but only when using the 'Show Desktop' widget. On Xorg.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
0. Add the 'Show Desktop' widget to the system tray.
1. Right-click on desktop and select ‘Configure Desktop’.
2. Minimize the wallpaper config windows that pops up (by clicking the minimize button on the toolbar).
4. Select the 'Show Desktop' widget on the system tray.
3. Repeat step 1.

Operating System: Kubuntu 19.04
KDE Plasma Version: 5.15.2
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.56.0
Qt Version: 5.11.3
Comment 3 Karl Ove Hufthammer 2019-03-15 19:09:22 UTC
No, I’m on X.org, not Wayland. And I can reproduce the bug even when not using ‘Show Desktop’.
Comment 4 Patrick Silva 2019-03-18 17:30:25 UTC
weird behavior maybe related to this bug:
start X11 session
open desktop settings
maximize and minimize desktop settings window
try to open desktop settinhs window again
Result: desktop settings window shows up quickly and
we can see it be unmaximized and minimized

Operating System: KDE neon Developer Edition
KDE Plasma Version: 5.15.80
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.57.0
Qt Version: 5.12.0
Comment 5 Nate Graham 2019-11-14 02:34:09 UTC
Works for me too with those exact steps to reproduce in Plasma 5.17 or git master. Can you still reproduce?
