Description andreas 2019-03-04 23:13:33 UTC
SUMMARY

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. start an video/audio/stream
2. media player plasmoid was shown in the system tray
3. mouse wheel change volume of the media player app
4. mouse wheel should jump +/-10 seconds in the stream

OBSERVED RESULT
see 3.

EXPECTED RESULT
see 4.

when mouse wheel click on the media player plasmoid the stream will stop so use the mouse wheel jump in the stream back and forth would be very intuitive.

when you listen an media stream you maybe change the volume once (therefore you can use the volume symbol in the system tray) but jump back/forth is not so uncommon. e.g. netflix offers jump back button.

Which media player?

I'm talking about the media player applet in the system tray.

tested with vlc and audacity the mouse wheel is always change volume control of the application (vlc or audacity).

In addition you can't change the volume in the media player plasmoid but with the mouse wheel you can. This will be an hidden function, cause it's not available in the UI only with mouse wheel.

I would also agree that a +/- 10 sec jump would be more useful than adjusting the app volume with the mouse wheel.
