Description Alan 2019-02-24 23:19:24 UTC
"Open file manager here" opens Easytag and not Nemo
Also "Open Terminal here" does nothing.

File Manager should is nemo, and is for any other folder, and I am clicking on a folder in Filelight.

Linux Mint Cinnamon 18.3 64bit
Filelight 1.21
KDE Frameworks 5.18.0
QT 5.5.1
The xcb windowing system

I can't confirm with filelight 18.12.3 on Arch Linux.
Filelight always opens the default file manager configured in "Default applications" kcm.

Confirmed on Arch Linux.

I have two Arch Linux boxes, both running Filelight 19.08.1 on Xfce 4.14, both have Thunar as the default file manager (i.e. apps like Firefox and Xarchiver open Thunar when asked to show a folder).

On one machine, Filelight opens Thunar.
The other, Filelight opens VS Code.

I can't confirm this on 21.03.70 filelight. Dolphin and konsole open as expected.

Can you please test and confirm if this issue is still occurring or if this bug report can be marked as resolved. I'm setting status to "needsinfo" pending your response, please change back to "reported" or "resolved" when you respond, thanks.

Not sure who you want more info from but here goes.

The original post early 2019, 18 months ago is so long ago, I don't remember doing it. I am on 19.3 now and it still does similar issues.

When I right click a folder in the graphical display (circles) I get the first choice to open file manager here. When I do, now on mint Cinnamon 19.3 I get Baobab, not Nemo. And open terminal does the same thing.
Note I'm not on any KDE type system just a few libraries to get apps working. Linux Mint Cinnamon 19.3 64bit.

Filelight
Version 17.12.3

    KDE Frameworks 5.44.0
    Qt 5.9.5 (built against 5.9.5)

Mint 19 based on Ubuntu 18.04 has fairly old KDE applications.

I'd suggest trying the flatpak for filelight or upgrading to Mint 20 and trying.

Linux Mint Cinnamon 20.0 64 bit.
Okay here the "open here' does load Nemo in the appropriate folder.
However the 'open terminal here' does nothing still.
Open on most other files, txt, gif, tar seem to bring up the appropriate app.

KDE Frameworks 5.68.0
Qt 5.12.8 (built against 5.12.8)

Interesting, what does your default apps list show? (I'm not sure where it is in Mint, likely in settings).

Terminal
Comment 11 Justin Zobel 2020-11-13 03:28:10 UTC
Thanks for the info Alan. Are you able to test one thing for me. Please install konsole and set it as your default terminal and see if that fixes the issue. It may be in the way that filelight passes the path to the terminal.
Comment 12 Alan 2020-11-13 03:41:06 UTC
Okay, really horrible results. Well, kinda.
Installing konsole and konsole-kpart (dependency) made konsole open when I did 'file manager here' but now terminal does nothing in mint 20 just like mint 19.
I purged those two packages and now terminal works again but file manager doesn't.

Can't win the all huh!.
Comment 13 Justin Zobel 2020-11-13 03:50:55 UTC
That is bizarre. You really can't win. I'd suggest taking a run at the Mint forums as something is truly odd there.
Comment 14 Alan 2020-11-13 03:53:17 UTC
Okay. Open File Manage in Mint 20 is good enough of a fix for me.

Great to hear Alan, are you happy for me to resolve this bug report?
Comment 16 Alan 2020-11-13 23:58:35 UTC
It's up to you guys. I wouldn't open a terminal, I'd more that likely just open file manager. And I'm about that close to upgrading to Mint 20 anyway so I'll get this fix. Some of the other file types do work, it's spotty but some of the basic files open fine.

This bug is here with all this history, so anyone that comes across it later can do what they want. I'll take myself off the email list.

Thanks for your attention.
