Created attachment 118337 [details] android error screen shot SUMMARY This gets really old. I can plug in my XP5700 and copy pictures to my desktop, then you push out "updates" and no android phone will work anymore. This stays busted for many many many months and it doesn't seem to matter which Android phone someone tries with. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Plug-in android phone. 2. Attempt to open in file manager 3. Watch nice little meaningless error message. The file or folder udi=/org/kde/solid/udev/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1a.0/usb1/1-1/1-1.1 does not exist. OBSERVED RESULT Dolphin has error message EXPECTED RESULT Should show directory contents like every other distro. Have you tried turning it off and on again?
(In reply to Harald Sitter from comment #1) > Have you tried turning it off and on again? I've tried the Microsoft/AGILE solution to everything many times. This is a problem caused by Microsoft/AGILE development style. It's a bug deep within Neon which will take actual architecting to solve. If I install Files 3.26.4 from the repo I can physically copy files from the phone to the desktop. This doesn't help other applications as none of them can pull photos from the phone and Dolphin is less than useless at it. That wasn't the case earlier this year.
Have you actually unlocked the phone (as in: it's not on the lock screen) and have you actually enabled the file sharing on the phone side? That error is fairly indicative of the phone simply not wanting to be talked to.

It's not fairly indicative of anything. On the EXACT same desktop computer with the EXACT same phone having done nothing different I can open Dolphin and not find the device. I can open Files and not only find the device, but copy pictures from it to the local machine. This used to work with Dolphin. KDE has a fixit-breakit-breakit-breakit-fixit-breakit-breakit-breakit-breakit history with this. This has nothing to do with the phone or settings or anything other than a lack of testing.
Try this workaround: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=387454 If it works for you, you're seeing kernel regression.

Created attachment 118986 [details] Cannot open in Gwenview
Yesterday I applied all of the updates which were built up. Seems like a lot of them. I had the occasion to take a few pictures tonight. While it is not perfect, I was able to plug in the phone and Dolphin could drag image files from phone to local folder. I could also open with Gwenview. Whatever they rolled out over the weekend seems to have fix it for my Sonim Bolt. With my XP5 the Dolphin image preview doesn't work but Gwenview could open an image file.
