Looks like I attached too many errors in my haste. There are only two relevant errors, marked on 2/22/2019. Sorry.

A little bit of digging...

Apparently only crashes if using the Start Menu shortcut.
However, if launched manually from the installed folder, it launches fine.

I just see 2 errors from 23.2.19 07.24/07.25 in the log with an exception code 0xc0000005 to libmlt-6.dll. Do you have installed the released version 18.12.1 or the 19.04Beta or both.

To which Kdenlive.exe the Start Menu shortcut points (right click -> properties)?
Comment 4 pyrestriker 2019-02-24 02:39:40 UTC
The 19.04 Beta (I selected the Refactoring as that was the closest in the list).
The one in the start menu points to the correct location for the 19.04 beta install. The previous version doesn't have an install, just runs standalone so it has its own folder, on a completely different drive. But I can follow the shortcut by right-clicking, Selecting More, then Open File Location, which pulls up the start menu folder where the shortcut resides in Explorer. Then, right-clicking the shortcut in Explorer and selecting open File Location from there pulls up the folder where the 19.04 Beta resides, highlighting 'kdenlive.exe'.

I've also tried running compatibility mode. Seems to not go defunct if ran in Windows Vista Compatibility. 7, and Vista will still crash if ran from Start Menu.

Not sure if related, but the icon also didn't update properly, and I had to manually change the shortcut's icon. It was just a blank piece of paper upon install.

And, per my comment 2019-02-23 06:50:26 UTC, I understood after uploading, that I selected too many errors in haste, and that there were only 2 relevant. If you would like, I can even get the issue on screencapture as proof of the issue being it launched from start menu only.

I have exactly the same issue with the 19.04BETA.

Do not use 19.04Beta at the moment.

The Beta has no Kdenlive-icon and the released version has a Kdenlive-icon.

If I understood you correctly both versions point to the same EXE.

Please delete all your Kdenlive versions completely (If you have problems see here: https://userbase.kde.org/Kdenlive/Manual/Windows_Issues#Kdenlive_cannot_be_uninstalled).

Download the released version 18.12.1 and install it. This version should run.

I would like to clarify:
I have the 18.08.0 version stored separately on a completely different drive. There was no Installation process involved, and this one has always ran directly from the folder, or from a manually created shortcut. The 19.04 Beta is the only version actually installed. I have made a few modifications to the stored 18.08.0 version that fixes some issues I had with certain effects such as rotoscoping actually crashing the system (See post https://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=272&t=153643 for more info on that and how I was able to resolve).

Only the shortcut that was generated for the Start Menu was missing the icon. By following the shortcut, it leads me to the installed 19.04 Beta. Running the Beta from the folder directly works fine, but launching from the Start Menu does not. I will try with the 18.12.1 after uninstalling the 19.04 Beta, and make sure effects are working right. If not, I may have to apply the same fix as last time. I'll post a new bug report if necessary on that issue, if it hasn't been reported before.

Can you please test whether this is still relevant for 20.12?
