SUMMARY So lately I've been noticing some minor screen burn-in from the screen locker. Right where the clock sits, you can lightly see numbers. I've seen other screenlockers with the ability to shift the clock location around every so many minutes. That and the ability to shut off the clock to the screen locker would be ideal. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Purchase $1000 monitor 2. USE KDE without screen energy saving due to kernel bug that refuses to wake monitor, or faulty driver that creates artifacting upon wake. 3. Get Screen Burn-in OBSERVED RESULT No options to disable clock until login prompt or cause clock to shift locations every few minutes. EXPECTED RESULT ability to hide clock until login attempt when login prompt is presented. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: Sabayon Linux (Gentoo-based) 4.20 kernel (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: 5.55.0 (plasma framework) 5.15.0 (plasma-desktop) KDE Frameworks Version: 5.55 Qt Version: QT5 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Meanwhile - There are an option to install another plasma theme / plasma lockscreen. An example: Breeze Custom Lock Screen - https://store.kde.org/p/1216681 : "Breeze Custom Lock is a partial KDE Look and Feel theme. It only has the lock screen part. The Breeze Custom Lock has: Semitransparent sliding rectangle. The lock screen texts are on the rectangle and moving out the sight when not needed..." Preview clip: https://youtu.be/6LsRMrCrm-c
If energy saving doesn't work, then energy saving needs fixing. Anything else is a pointless workaround. Though as stated above, you can change the lockscreen.
