Sound like a dysfunction in database

It's the SQL query from a search album. But I just do not know where it would be possible if so many individual image ids could be passed. The face database is also broken. In a search, however, the number of items in the groub can not be correct, as some of the images in the group do not meet the criteria, I think we have a bug report too. Please test it with the normal album view.

In digikam-6.2.0-git-20190613T125237-qtwebkit-x86-64.appimage, the size of the groups is still one too low.

Only the hidden images are counted. The leader image is not counted because it is visible. Use an album with 3 images, the last 2 images group to the first image. Take a screenshot.

The screenshot would only show that a group of 3 pictures would write "2". So, this would not show any new information.
The way you describe it is on the one hand explainable, on the other hand very, very unintuitive. One expects that the number shows the size of the group and not the number of pictures that you can't see. If e.g. two pictures were shown to make cleat it's a group, the printed number would be n-2 instead. This would then be very, very, very unintuitive instead.

I do not understand the problem and so far the calculation of the number has never been reported as a problem. I try it differently, you have a drawer with the inscription 2. If you open the drawer, would you expect to find 3 pictures in it?
The number shows the count of the images ->IN<- the group image.

Yes, exactly. In this moment, the drawer has written "2" on it, and it contains 3 pictures. One would expect it to have "3" written on it instead. This would be the desired description. But this is not how DK does it right now.
