ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I have no idea what the different versions above are. "Submit Bug Report" says

Hmm, in 5.14 and git master, neither one selects the category. :/

I was just about to submit a wishlist asking for 'mouse' to be findable. I didn't realise 'Mouse' worked. The same applies to 'keyboard' vs 'Keyboard' - please add 'keyboard' to this request. I'm using Plasma 5.15.

Sorry to post again (i couldn't see an edit ability). I should point out that using 'mouse' vs 'Mouse' actually returns lots of differences. Different areas are highlighted, depending on whether you use caps or not. This is also the same for keyboard/Keyboard.

Are there others? Is the whole thing case sensitive?

Same thing in plasma 5.15.1.
Searching for "keyboard" and "mouse" does not select input devices kcm.

Operating System: Arch Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 5.15.1
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.55.0
Qt Version: 5.12.1

Issue still present in the newest Plasma.

Operating System: Arch Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 5.16.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.60.0
Qt Version: 5.13.0

Just updating information this bug report.
Please note that below described issue happens in case of modes: "Tree View" and "Icon View", but in "Sidebar View" searching seems to works correctly - we get "Input devices" typing "mouse" or "Mouse", so here search isn't case sensitive like in both others.

It is obvious that because of this bug also other options might be not found.

Fixed in Sidebar view now.
