STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Remove Discover.
2. Right click on Updater systray icon.
3. Select 'Refresh' or 'Open Software Center...' item in the menu.

OBSERVED RESULT
"Could not find the program 'plasma-discover'" popup window is showed.

EXPECTED RESULT
Updater tray icon is removed from the tray right after Discover uninstallation.

There is absolutely no way to Plasmashell to do that at a generic level.

You could try a report against discover-update-notifier to watch itself for changes.
