Description alt.su-7oon2u5b 2019-01-18 19:32:54 UTC
SUMMARY

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Make sure an external USB mouse is plugged in
2. Go to Settings > Input devices > Touchpad
3. In the Enable / Disable Touchpad tab, tick "Disable touchpad when mouse is pluged in"
4. Click Apply and close the window (touchpad will become disabled)
5. Remove your external USB mouse (touchpad will become enabled)
6. Repeat steps 1 and 2
7. Change any touchpad related settings, and click Apply again

OBSERVED RESULT
The newly affected settings don't seem to have any kind of effect. They only start applying after a reboot / logout

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Comment 1 alt.su-7oon2u5b 2019-01-30 13:18:03 UTC
I was wrong. It's not the "Disable touchpad when mouse is pluged in" option that breaks touchpad configuration. Disabling the touchpad via the system tray button (if you cannot see it, add it via Right click > Configure system tray) also does this.

I can't confirm. Touchpad settings are applied as expected while a usb mouse is plugged in and the touchpad is disabled.

Hello! This bug report concerns the Synaptics version of the Touchpad page, which is no longer supported in Plasma 6. Can you please see if the issue still happens when using Libinput? If so, please change the status back to "REPORTED." If not, go ahead and change it to "RESOLVED FIXED", or let the bot do it automatically after a month. Thanks!
