SUMMARY I thought I had finally found a video editing application for linux that worked, but obviously I was wrong. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Just use normally. Get a couple of clips, put them on the timeline, do some trivial edits. 2. 3. OBSERVED RESULT Suddenly, the lower part of the interface, where the timeline is, froze and stopped giving visual feedback of what was going on, though the application still worked. For example: - I could hit the space bar and the video would play, but the playhead on the timeline would no longer move - I could drag and drop a clip on the timeline and the change would be applied, but the timeline appeared as if I hadn't moved anything, as if it wasn't responding. EXPECTED RESULT Pretty obvious SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: (available in About System) (where's "About System"??) KDE Plasma Version: KDE Frameworks Version: Qt Version: ADDITIONAL INFORMATION So, just another completely unusable video editing application.
I have had to restart it several times already, I can't use it for more than a couple of minutes before this crap happens again. I guess I was lucky the first time that it worked for half an hour without issue. Or unlucky, because had I known from the beginning I wouldn't have wasted my time.
Sorry for the trouble you have. It seems you have an old version. Please try with the current AppImage version 18.12.1b from here: https://files.kde.org/kdenlive/release/kdenlive-18.12.1b-x86_64.appimage
I am closing this because the related version is unmaintained. Please use a current version ((https://kdenlive.org/en/download/) Feel free to reopen or create a new report if this is still happening after an update.
