Main Window Where I Tried To Open A Media File (MKV)

SUMMARY

I can't reproduce any media with Dragon.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Launch Dragon.
2. Open a file.

OBSERVED RESULT

There's no reproduction start. It doesn't even appear at the main panel, at the list. The list remains empty. Only is seen the name of the file at the bottom left edge, without extension.

EXPECTED RESULT

The reproduction should start, or at least, appear at a list.

If you already tried other media audio/video and can confirm that the video is indeed not corrupted.

What backend are you using you can check under System Settings >Multimedia > Audio and Video > Engine.

You should at least have the phonon Gstreamer backend to be able to play media.

I already tried VLC, the media player i have been using the whole time, and yes, i can play everything on it, but nothing of that on Dragon.

I just checked on backend at Audio & Video as you told me, indeed, i have GStreamer as the backend.

I uninstalled Dragon a few time later i reported this bug, because i felt like it was a waste. Such a shame, it feels like a great potential for me, but it is real that being a software by KDE, i miss a whole bunch of options and settings to configure it, such as VLC has.

If Gstreamer is the only backend it possibly lacks some plugins ( gstreamer1.0-plugins-good and gstreamer1.0-plugins-ugly name can vary on your distro) to be able to play the media. On the other hand Dragon can use the VLC Phonon backend if you install the corresponding packages (phonon4qt5-backend-vlc and libvlc) and prioritize the backend on the settings menu.

If you are fine with VLC at the moment let me now so i can close this report.

Yeah, it is good to know, thanks. I am pretty fine with VLC, but i realized an attempt to use as much Qt only and later KDE software as i can/could, but looks like Dragon can not replace VLC in my case, at least not for now.

For sure, thanks for your help and you can close this bug.
