Animated GIF showing FuzzyClock moving around

SUMMARY
Fuzzy clock has been positioned on the top right corner of the screen; this is always fine after re-booting the system. Over some hours, the clock moves more and more to the right: Starting in the morning, at the right edge, it's almost at the left in the evening. Please see the video (GIF) showing screenshots of the top part of my screen from left (Icon SystemSettings) to the right (Icons LibreOffice and Plasmaoid RedshiftControl). The first frames have been taken every five minutes, the later ones from time to time over several hours. Please note, that the very last frame is the same time as the penultimate but after a re-boot, e.g. last frame 10 p.m. computer in since the morning, clock at the left; penultimate frame 10 p.m. computer re-booted, clock at the right (as desired).

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Install the plasmaoid "Fuzzy Clock" and bring it in the top right edge of the screen.
2. Watch the plasmaoid over the hours

OBSERVED RESULT
Moving plasmaoid (see video (GIF)).

EXPECTED RESULT
Plasmaoid should stay at the top right edge.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
KDE Plasma Version: 5.12.7
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.47.0
Qt Version: 5.9.5

I am also seeing this on my F29 Box. It seems to change its position when the length of the text changes. Mine was set to "accurate"

KDE Plasma Version: 5.14.4
Qt Version: 5.11.3
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.53.0

Thanks Colin for your confirmation.

You are right, the little movements occur, when the text (and its length) changes. I tried to understand, which position (center, left edge, rigth edge) of the old text is taken for the new text, but I could not find any rule that fits to all. Mine is also set to highest accuracy and over an hour I took screenshots for each step, which can be seen in the GIF at the beginning.

Some more detail:
The location of the Plasmaoid is only depending on the time, the machine is on since booting. This means, if I start in the afternoon, it's in the rigt edge, as desired; starting in the morning, it's almost centered on the screen at noontime.

If the computer is on over night, next morning the Plasmaoid is in the second or third line from top, e.g. after it reaches the left edge of the screen, it steps down and starts moving to the right. Reaching the right edge, again one line down and moving to the left.

In addition to that, let's assume, the Plasmaoid is actually in the third line, centered: It's not possible to move it back to the desired location, it jumps automatically back to a lower line and a position more on the left side.

I have just tested this again with the latest set of updates and after ~ 2 hours the clock has kept its position so far.

Operating System: Fedora 30
KDE Plasma Version: 5.16.3
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.60.0
Qt Version: 5.12.4
Comment 5 Christoph Feck 2019-08-05 23:06:17 UTC
Michael, can you confirm it is fixed in recent versions?
Comment 6 Michael 2019-08-06 10:11:19 UTC
Christoph,

thank you for your work on this issue.

Fuzzy Clock here is still moving; my system:
Kernel: 5.0.0-23
Operating System: kUBUNTU 18.04.2
KDE Plasma Version: 5.12.8
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.47.0
Qt Version: 5.9.5

So, in general I have an "older" system than Colin, although Backports
deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ bionic-backports main restricted universe multiverse
are part my /etc/apt/sources.list.

Due to time reasons, actually I can't update to UBUNTU 19 and in general, I prefer the LTS-versions. If there is another chance to renew Plasma or Frameworks or whatever is responsible for the issue, please let me know.

Using VirtualBox, I checked two more actual systems; also with these the clocks are moving:

VirtualBox --> kUBUNTUneon, showing the following system-information:
Operating System: Ubuntu 18.04.3 LTS (Bionic Beaver)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.16.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.60.0
Qt Version: 5.12.3
Kernel Version: 4.15.0-55-generic

VirtualBox --> MANJARO system having:
Operating System: Manjaro Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 5.16.3
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.60.0
Qt Version: 5.13.0
Kernel Version: 4.19.60-1-MANJARO

Please let me know, if I could check or change anything else.
Regards, Michael

Fuzzy Clock here is still moving; my actual system after updates:
Kernel: 5.0.0-29
Operating System: kUBUNTU 18.04.3
KDE Plasma Version: 5.12.9
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.47.0
Qt Version: 5.9.5

I cannot reproduce this in Plasma 6.5 anymore. I'm assuming this has been fixed by then, since the positioning code for applets has been significantly refactored.
