ical invites cannot be accepted without replying!

If I get a cal invite I get the following options:
Accept:tentative:decline:counter proposal:delegate

All of these send replies back (without asking). I see this as not useful and leaking sensitive information without permission. As things stand I have to "work offline", "accept" and delete the reply before it is sent as the <only> way to extract the calender information without sending an unwanted reply.

To add insult to injury the original email (with the invitation) then gets deleted (why?)

Surely this can't be right? at the very least permission (do you want to reply?) should be sought and a way to extract the calender information should be offered. Ideally the default behaviour should be settable so that I can handle these requests without leaking sensitive information or spamming up the world.

FWIW looks like this has been here before Ref: Bug 106595
