SUMMARY Digikam crashes completely due to a bug in the digikam interface to the menu/extra/create stacked images GUI. I am stacking 25 jpeg images with each 16Mpix. The tool can not be used several times, because the output file can not be created due to conflict with previous file name. The name is not changed automatically. Workaround is to manually change the output filename before closing the GUI STEPS TO REPRODUCE 0. mark 15 images in one folder 1. menu/extra/create stacked images GUI 2. in the last GUI where the output file is specified: check the box "save under new name" type the filename, used both jpeg and png output. 3. press preview and save, then close 4. all works fine until you use the same procedure again inside the same folder 4.a. crash in the third GUI frame (? when transferring the data into enfuse/enblend) 5. it can be repaired by using a in a new folder a different set of images. or just a few images. I do not know where the max number of images is that can be stacked. My 8GB RAM is not filled with 25 images. OBSERVED RESULT crash of full digikam EXPECTED RESULT the filename would just be changed to filename(1) and then filename(2) WORKARROUND Change Filename to a new one before closing the save GUI SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Betriebssystem: Manjaro Linux KDE-Plasma-Version: 5.14.4 Qt-Version: 5.11.2 KDE-Frameworks-Version: 5.52.0 Kernel-Version: 4.19.12-2-MANJARO Art des Betriebssystems: 64-bit Prozessoren: 4 × Intel® Core™ i5-4210U CPU @ 1.70GHz Speicher: 7,7 GiB Arbeitsspeicher ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Screenshots here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/12xCExoFFBrp5rcFWkkuX8tvHiKZSIIs8rTjxBL78pDw/edit?usp=sharing
The problem can not be reproduced here with digiKam-6.0.0-beta3. The file name is appended with an automatic counter (_v1). Please test it with the AppImage, but make a copy of the database. https://files.kde.org/digikam/ Maik

Good news, After 2 weeks of works, the pre-release 6.1.0 bundles are now reconstructed from scratch with: - All OpenCV options for CUDA, OPenMP, and OPenCL disabled to prevent crashes in face management. - A large upgrade of Qt5 from 5.9.7 to 5.11.3. - An upgrade to KF5 5.55. - An upgrade to Ffmpeg 3.3.9 - The fontconfig/freetype integration in the bundle to reduce system dependencies Files can be downloaded here : https://files.kde.org/digikam/ Please test and report.
