1 ) have an opened file in the original window (window 1)
2 ) choose new window (window 2)
3) choose the open file in the new window with "new view"
4) set "window 2" to "canvas only mode"
5) go back to "window 1"
6) New window (window 3)
->window 3 will have started in canvas only mode


if you exit the canvas only mode and THEN open a new window it usually is fine. But needless to say this should not happen.
