SUMMARY There are some design defects in the ledger view: 1- Details column shows payees. Payee is a person or an entity such as an organization. It is a design error to use it instead of the description (or note) of a transaction. Ledger view should have payee as a standalone column besides the details (or description) of a transaction. 2- Information that is required more often should be visible easier. The other side of a transaction should be mentioned besides the increase / decrease column. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Check the ledger view 2. 3. OBSERVED RESULT It lacks useful information with few keystrokes. It shows as if details is payee. EXPECTED RESULT It should provide the required information without disambiguation and in a logically accessible way. Did you know, that there is an option to "show all register entries in full detail" to get you access to all that? Also, there is a shortcut to switch between the view types (Ctrl+T) or View/Show transaction detail.
Even better is to let the user add / remove available fields as required.

Also, there is a shortcut to switch > between the view types (Ctrl+T) or View/Show transaction detail. You mean in the ledger view settings? Ctrl+T is overwork for the information that is sought frequently. Letting users arrange the ledger view to their liking is the best way forward.
