When the phone is set to Do not disturb, the "find my phone" feature will not play any sound. If Do not disturb is off, it will work as expected. I believe that "find my phone" is an action that is explicity activated by the user, and the expected result is (at least for me) that the phone will ring, no matter if Do not Disturb is on or off. So I propose to make KDE Connect turn off DnD for the time of the alert and turn it back on afterwards. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: Debian 9 / Plasma 5.8.6 Android: 7.1.2 (LineageOS) KDE Connect: 1.10.1
Works for me with LineageOS 16.0
Sadly my phone won't get anything > Android 7, so I can't test.. but maybe I forgot to clarify: It works if you are in "Alarms only"-mode, but not if you are in "Total Silence"-mode, which probably makes sense in a technical way. But I myself still believe that even in when in "Total Silence"-mode, the phone should ring when "find my phone" is triggered. Reason: When you need the "find phone" feature, you *actively* want to find your phone, even if you are at work / in a meeting / at lunch etc. Maybe they did redesign the DND settings (again) in 8/9, I don't know :-)
I can confirm this. DND with default settings prevents KDE Connect's notifications from showing up and making any sounds. Android 10, BlackView "brick"-phone with a slightly modified Google launcher. Default DND settings which I have never used nor modified look like this: - Calls: Allow from starred contacts and repeat callers - SMS, MMS, and messaging apps: Don't allow any messages - See all exceptions (sub-menu) - + Allow alarms: ON - + Play media sounds: ON - + Allow touch sounds: OFF - + Allow reminders: OFF - + Allow events: OFF - Restrict notifications: No visuals or sound from notifications - Default duration: Until you turn off - Schedules: Never
I confirm this is still an issue. Note: Google's Google Find My Device works even if device is in Do not disturb https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.adm&hl=en_US&gl=US.
