Description Luca Mastromatteo 2018-12-18 18:02:40 UTC
SUMMARY
I have noticed that with some applications, in particular some games I will list later, the desktop compositing is not disabled automatically, causing performance issues, unlike when using the GNOME desktop, where everything works normally. Tested in Fullscreen mode.

I listed that as a wishlist because it seems that in GNOME everything works as it should.

Game list that have this issue: Steam: Portal, Portal 2.
Every wine game, except when using some custom wine builds.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open the game in fullscreen mode

OBSERVED RESULT
Desktop compositing is not disabled

EXPECTED RESULT
Desktop compositing is disabled, like the GNOME desktop does

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: 4.18
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.13.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.50.0
Qt Version: 5.11.1

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Comment 1 Martin Flöser 2018-12-19 05:14:59 UTC
The games need to indicate that compositing should be disabled.
