Description Rainer Finke 2018-12-16 11:01:00 UTC
If I open the desktop file settings of an application to modify e.g. the run command, I cannot use copy & paste on Wayland.
What works is to copy & paste text from the desktop file settings window to another program, but copy & paste from another program to the desktop file settings doesn't. Example: Try to paste the following text "GTK_USE_PORTAL=1" to Firefox as a run command, it will not work and you have to type it.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Copy some text
2. Open the .desktop file settings of any program
3. Paste Text

OBSERVED RESULT
Nothing is pasted or only an old text

EXPECTED RESULT
Copy & paste should work

I assume you're trying to copy from an X app?
Does it paste correctly into another wayland place, like kate?
Comment 2 Rainer Finke 2018-12-17 21:15:03 UTC
I run all KDE apps on Wayland, so I've tried to copy from Konsole/Kate. If I copy from e.g. Firefox on XWayland it is the same issue.
Yes, all other applications (Wayland or XWayland) do copy and paste correctly.

Here I copied a text from Kate (Wayland) to Opera browser (Xwayland) as expected.
So I copied a text from Opera browser to Kate and it crashed.
Apparently it crashed, because it disappeared from my screen but coredumpctl shows no Kate crash.
