Description Konstantin Kharlamov 2018-12-03 12:38:52 UTC
SUMMARY

I recently configured two mail accounts, and even somehow managed to send one mail; but then kmail started silently piling up the mails in outbox. Pressing "send queued messages" doesn't do anything. Usually there's no error, it just sits there, for now reason.

I managed to reproduce it from two PCs, and on one of them I've seen for some time an error "Failed to transport message. Server error". Uninformative, but at least something. But later then I removed all accounts from kmail, and recreated just one, and this time it's doesn't even show an error.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Setup a mail account from yandex.ru
2. Send a mail yourself

OBSERVED RESULT

Mail being moved to "Local Folders/Outbox" without any error message.

EXPECTED RESULT

Mail sent.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: Archlinux, i3wm, don't use Plasma.
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.52.0
Qt Version: 5.11.2

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

It's kmail 5.9.3, for some reason it's not listed in versions. I'm not sure what other information I may need to supply.

I just found, when sending a message, `journalctl -f` shows the following lines:

дек 03 17:23:52 constantine-N61Ja kmail[30652]: org.kde.pim.messagelist: Requested invariant for storage row index 3 not found in history

Okay, I managed to make it work on one of PCs with a single account (didn't try setting up second yet)!

Something just flashed in my mind, and I decided to try `aconadictl restart`. I got a lot of output, but now KMail works! I didn't even had to restart KMail.

Okay, so, I configured 2-nd account, and initially it was okay. Then I started experimenting, sending from one account to another, and I think, after I changed my default identity, mails started piling up again, with error "Failed to transport message. Server error".

`aconadyctl restart` doesn't help anymore.

Similar behaviour happens to me too, in my case akonadictl restart doesn't help but completely rebooting the computer seems to work, also while this is happening new emails doesn't are not received at all, another thing I noticed is that if i double click on an email in outbox the sender address is changed to default identity and if I press send it send the email but nto with the sender i wanted...

A few weeks ago I tried KMail again, and it worked for me. I used it for a few weeks for rare communication on mailing lists from two different mail accounts and as far as I can tell the bug was resolved. KMail version was 19.12.3.

I encountered another problem though, which made me to remove KMail. Probably the last time now. This time an issue is that KMail sometimes (once a few days probably) suddenly starts redownloading all emails I have, thousands of them. It leads to freezes of the whole system for an hour-two. Unfortunately, I don't think I have motivation to report this one.
