Description Antonio 2018-12-01 13:16:27 UTC
SUMMARY
The default Plasma desktop shows the file operation only in the notification panel, and is too much difficult for NORMAL users to find a way to have a very old fashioned WINDOW that show what is happening to me, I'd like old style file/copy windows, that clutter my view and show me, what's happening, because I'm a very old guy, not smart like the new developers and UI expert.

I tried to fix it, reading TONS of web pages, about two different options to disable in the notification dialog and in another app. Nothing worked. So please, add something that is so simple like a very old fashioned option in dolphin that just have a label like "Yes, use old fashioned windows for file operation notification because we are fool people and like them.".

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Just run plasma desktop
2. copy a file
3. I wanna see the WINDOWS with a proper progress bar.

OBSERVED RESULT

New smart way of NOT showing the progress of copy, or showing it hidden in obscure icons in the panel.

EXPECTED RESULT

Just old fashioned, kde/windows/osx behaviour. So for example, if someone that is using the desktop for the first time, do not get crazy, just because it do not observe the notification in the panel, and start to copy 1000 times the same folders/file.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Comment 1 Antonio 2018-12-01 13:19:59 UTC
I'm serious about the fact that I had to spent one hour of my time, reading around on the web if it was possible to disable the current setup, and have a normal progress bar window. I found several hints and pages that I tried but without success. Of course, this stuff is never touched in the official doc of dolphin.
So you see, usability is not something like: 'we really like this in this way', ok, we are dumb, you are smart, could you please allow to dump and stupid people to have a possible way to use their system as they like too? Maybe because they really like to have consistent behaviour across operating systems?

Is there any reason for you aggressive writing tone?
