It would be great if the file could be renamed by the facial recognition information. So: The picture shows Kim and Tom. Filename: Kim & Tom (in Paris 20 08 2018)

I don't think so. Because there are many person on the photo. Better to find this photo with a filter. I don't know is it possible now in digiKam or not.
If not the better the ability to do such a filter.

I also agree the best way to find the photo is with a filter.  Digikam has very powerful search capabilities, which is the better option.  Renaming the photo based on the names could lead to many files in the same folder with the same name with just a number attached.  For example, when I'm shooting portraits, it's not uncommon for me to take over 100 images of the same person.  This means the images would all be name person-0001 or person-0127 depending on the person's name.
