SUMMARY Notice a large TV is an alternative to a screen projector / monitor. While on Windows it just works : two independent screens, 1080p, sound, nice font rendering. Users on Linux have to tweak the screen setup and the sound output, which is not so ergonomic on KDE, e.g. how to get two independent screens when they are merged. Moreover the font rendering is ugly on a 1080 resolution. Gnome has the same issue with sound and font rendering but it configures automatically a second 1080p screen, which seams obvious when the TV is 1080 while the laptop has an exotic resolution.
Please try and be a lot more specific and don't mix multiple issues into one report.

FOSS is more and more pathetic ... I spent few minutes to explain why peoples around me use windows or os x : it just works ! I have no idea what is wrong here and I try to maintain my own software, thus I don't have time to do more. Then close it ...
Thanks for the update; changing status as requested.
