Description Marcus Sundman 2018-11-21 16:21:01 UTC
SUMMARY
KDE Connect used to work just fine, but lately my phones are constantly getting unpaired. To not be connected is one thing, and I've resolved that by disabling all battery saving for kdeconnect, but this auto-unpairing is driving me nuts. This happens with different versions of android on different phones.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open KDE connect on both the phone and computer.
2. Pair them.
3. Hit "Refresh" on the KDE Connect System Settings Module.

OBSERVED RESULT
My phone gets upaired, and vanishes from the list. Hitting "Refresh" again makes it reappear on the list, but now in an unpaired state.

EXPECTED RESULT
No changes.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: (k)ubuntu 18.10.
KDE Plasma Version: 5.14.3-0ubuntu1~ubuntu18.10~ppa1
KDE Frameworks Version: 4:17.08.3-0ubuntu2
Qt Version: 4:4.8.7+dfsg-7ubuntu1

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
It doesn't happen only when I refresh the list, as described above, but also from time to time randomly without doing anything in particular.

Have you tried erasing the KDE Connect config from your phone and/or your desktop? On Android, go to Apps->KDE Connect->Clear data, and on the desktop delete ~/.conf/kdeconnect and log-out and in again.
Comment 2 Marcus Sundman 2018-11-22 11:28:08 UTC
I did those things separately, without success, but deleting the config from both phone and computer at the same time seems to have helped now. At least the list refresh doesn't unpair them now. Let's see how it goes.

Do you have anything to update? Is the app still working? It happens once in awhile that the settings somehow get corrupted, so if it's working for you now I guess we'll mark it up to that known, undocumented, uncommon error.
Comment 6 Marcus Sundman 2018-12-13 22:58:14 UTC
Pressing "refresh" doesn't unpair anymore for me after deleting settings from both phone and computer. It still disconnects all the time (despite disabling all powersave options for the app on the phone), having to run the app manually to reconnect, but maybe that's another bug?

Glad to hear the original issue seems to be working

Problems with disconnections can be due to a lot of things. On certain networks I get a lot of disconnects, on other networks everything works perfectly, so my assumption is that is an unrelated issue. Closing for now. Thanks for your feedback!
