I can confirm the restart of the the current media being played by using the right arrow.

What backend are you using you can check under System Settings >Multimedia > Audio and Video > Backend.

Can you retest by instead of skipping by pressing the right arrow key in quick succession just leave it pressed at least 10 seconds and report back.

In my system settings -> multimedia I get an error that there is no module
multimedia (running kubuntu 1810)

Leaving pressed seems not to cause issues. pressing next afterwards
repeatedly also seems to work then.

You seem to be missing a module on system settings.

Just to be sure when you say movie is this a video (mp4, mkv, etc) or is a DVD. And by pressing skip is the right arrow key on the keyboard or the Dragon (Next) Button on the Play menu.

It will be great if you could give a more detailed explanation on the steps to reproduce the issue.

By the last comment you are running Kubuntu 18.10 so the software versions are a bit different.

You can get more info here about that here: https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved/Bug_Reporting#Software_versions
Comment 4 Harald Sitter 2019-02-12 11:15:23 UTC
Can confirm with phonon-vlc

I think there's a signal race between the slider and the backend going on. Backend sends "pos=5" but sliders is already displaying "pos=10", so the slider
updates to "pos=5" which effectively makes it jump back to the beginning.

Yes it happens during pressing RIGHT key on non DVD movies

Must say that it seems to occur less frequently with the new version but
still it occurs

Comment 6 Neousr 2019-02-14 00:33:04 UTC
Found one comment on bug 194446 that have some info on the 5 and 10 secs skip by another developer.

I was able to skip on both backends (VLC,Gstreamer) but it depends on the media being played resulting on the same restarting the current video.
