ALL CLEAR Happy to report that: After reinstall on a fresh updated and upgraded copy of raspbian stretch lite and a very careful step by step setup of kmail, korganizer and further components kontact is working flawlessly now. Not clear what caused the problems. As usual I have set up the basics and checked all logs for errors. Based on the experiences I made with the first trial I have made a few modifications since after reinstalling the system was hanging after 5 minutes. 1. Commented out all entries in /etc/dphys-swapfile. Obviously KDE is controlling this 2. created a cron run script to keep ~/.xsession-errors size below 200000 This feature is causing big problems on a raspberry with limited resources! I saw that I am not the only one who is complaining.
Thanks for the update; changing status.
