SUMMARY Morning, running akonadi server on my gentoo laptop, stable versions I observe that starting plasma, in a few hours the memory consumption gets full and laptop start paging. Top shows the akonadiserver is the guilty on eating all the memory followed by chromium that consumes some little percent but having a bunch of threads. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Start plasma. 2. Work for ~3-4h. OBSERVED RESULT Top shows akonadiserver process takes a lot of memory. EXPECTED RESULT That akonadi takes memory that needs but doesn't grow continuously over time. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: 18.04 version ebuils in gentoo stable. (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: 5.13.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.50.0 Qt Version: 5.11.1
I'm seeing the same behaviour in KDE Neon packages. Plasma: 5.14.3 Frameworks: 5.52.0 Qt: 5.11.2 Akonadi server: 5.9.3
I recently migrated my kabylake laptop to a ryzen one and still the behaviour is reproducible, which reduces the chances to be platform dependant. only way to reliably work is to forcefully stop akonadiserver through akonadictl stop.
There is a new set of ebuilds for plasma 18.08, and this is still valid: PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND 20775 pekkari 20 0 14.7g 3.3g 0 S 42.6 50.9 29:06.63 akonadiserver New versions: Linux/KDE Plasma: 18.08 version ebuils in gentoo stable. (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: 5.14.3-r1 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.52.0 Qt Version: 5.11.1-r1
