Description Adam Spiers 2018-11-06 13:08:11 UTC
SUMMARY

If a clip is selected in the Project Bin but not currently visible (e.g. if it's scrolled off-window, or in a collapsed folder), when I right-click on that clip in the timeline and select "Clip in Project Bin", that clip will remain invisible.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

1. Open a project with a) more clips than can fit visibly within the Project Bin window, and/or b) at least one folder which contains a clip.
2. Pick a clip and ensure it's on the timeline.
3. Select that clip in the Project Bin.
4. Either scroll the project bin vertically so that clip is no longer visible, or collapse the folder containing that clip.
5. Right-click on the clip in the timeline.
6. Select "Clip in Project Bin".

OBSERVED RESULT

The Project Bin view does not change, and the clip remains invisible.

EXPECTED RESULT

The containing folder(s) of the clip automatically open if necessary, and the clip is scrolled into view if necessary.

SOFTWARE VERSIONS

kdenlive version: 18.04.3
KDE Plasma version: 5.12.5
Qt version: 5.9.4

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

A workaround is to first either:

a) right-click on a different clip in the timeline (which is *not* currently selected in the Project Bin), and select "Clip in Project Bin", or
b) just select a different clip in the Project Bin

and then repeat the operation on the clip you actually wanted to view.

Yes, there is some strange behavior if the clip is in a subfolder. Your steps give different results: sometimes the subfolder opens and the clip is selected and sometimes not.
