SUMMARY I know about this commit: https://packaging.neon.kde.org/kde/plasma-discover.git/commit/?h=Neon/release&id=f7929ece16fb73bdb05103dfbdefe9ad11213cd7 But is stupid. I don't want flatpak nor snapd on my system because I don't use them, so I removed them along with the entire discover application, which I never use because is unreliable. Operating System: KDE neon 5.14 KDE Plasma Version: 5.14.2 Qt Version: 5.11.2 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.51.0 OS Type: 64-bit
> But is stupid. https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved/Bug_Reporting#Remember_your_manners I understand that this is frustrating, but let's try to keep it technical. Insults tend not to motivate people. :)

Thanks, it takes a big man to apologize!

I can say at the very least that removing discover (along with flatpak and snapd) is not so bad (a few GBs free for me). I dont't get update notifs obviously but I always found them quite hit or miss. I just use the terminal to update from time to time and it works fine. Though not everybody can do that.
No need to mark this as RESOLVED DOWNSTREAM since the downstream (Neon) uses the same bug tracker. :) Moving this there.
It's seems to be fixed in latest Neon packages: $ apt-cache policy plasma-discover plasma-discover: Installed: 5.14.3-0xneon+18.04+bionic+build32 $ apt-cache depends plasma-discover … Recommends: plasma-discover-flatpak-backend Recommends: plasma-discover-snap-backend …
