Description Chris Raven 2018-10-28 08:48:28 UTC
SUMMARY:
When using multiple monitors, for instance a 1920x1080 and a 2560x1080 monitor in extended mode, the Cursor Size reverts from a fixed size (In this case 24) to "Resolution Dependent" and causes the cursor to be huge when moving between screens, showing large on the 1080P screen.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Connect a second screen which is higher resolution than the primary screen
2. Change the cursor to a fixed size
3. Move the mouse between screens

OBSERVED RESULT:
Mouse cursor is normal on the 2560x1080 monitor, but is huge on the 1080p monitor. Going back into Cursor settings shows it has reverted back to "Resolution Dependent"

EXPECTED RESULT:
Plasma will keep the cursor at size 24 regardless of what monitor it moves to

SOFTWARE VERSIONS
KDE Plasma Version: 5.14.2 (But has been like this for a while)
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.51.0
Qt Version: 5.11.2

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
This issue has been occurring for a long time now, and moving to the Wayland session is too unstable for daily use. The issue causes major issues until the device is rebooted with the second screen connected, which seems to fix the issue. This has occurred on Arch, Antergos and Manjaro.

I would like to add that this also happens for me even when using one 3840x2160 (4K) monitor.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open Cursor Theme settings dialog.
2. Set to 48
3. Click Apply, cursor size is correctly adjusted to 48.
4. Close Cursor Theme dialog.
5. Open Cursor Theme dialog.
6. Size setting in dialog is automatically reverted back to "Resolution Dependent" despite no other user interaction taking place. Actual cursor size is also reverted back to previous size (on my system defaults to 36) despite not clicking "Apply" or "Ok", this happens just by opening the Cursor Theme dialog.

Current Plasma version: 5.14.2 but has also been a longstanding issue in previous versions.

Yeah, it happens for all display configurations.
