Description Richard Gladman 2018-10-20 22:56:42 UTC
SUMMARY

I have a laptop with a hdmi screen to the left and a vga to the right of it. This never varies, the laptop is basically glued to the desk. I have other laptops for travelling with.

The issues are that:

Every time I log in, compositing is off and needs to be manually set.

Every time I log in, the screens have been shuffled from where I like them. HDMI (Primary) -> Laptop -> VGA to VGA ->Laptop (Primary) -> HDMI. and need to manually dragged back.

I remember these happening a few versions ago but can't be precise I'm afraid. The following issue is brand new.

There is also a popup offering to do various things with monitors but it seems to expect only one external monitor and no matter which option I choose, nothing happens.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Plug two external monitors into laptop
2. Log in
3. Arrange screens as desired and apply
4. Logout
5. Log back in

OBSERVED RESULT

Screens shuffled. Primary monitor moved to laptop screen and compositing may be disabled.

EXPECTED RESULT

Screens are where they were left. Compositing state as it was left and primary monitor as it was left.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

I'm not sure whether to close this as after installing a couple of bits of server software (ssh and apache) then rebooting again, it seems to be remembering the settings.

I don't know what's different about it now which is why I'm unsure.

None of that should have been related at all. Before installing them, had you rebooted since upgrading to 5.14.1?

Once. Straight after the update.

Thank you for the bug report. Unfortunately we were not able to get to it yet. Can we ask you to please see if you can reproduce the issue with Plasma 5.25 or 5.26?

If you can, please change the status to CONFIRMED when replying. If not, or if you can't because you no longer use this setup, you can change the status to RESOLVED WORKSFORME. Thanks a lot!
