If I enable Airplane Mode, sometimes the wifi icon disappears and I need to restart the system to get wifi connection from the System Tray icon.

What you mean by wifi icon? The wifi switch next to the airplane mode? Icon in the system tray?

Yes, if I try to click the Enable Wireless box after having Airplane Mode, the box won't allow me to enable Wireless mode back.
I've encountered this issue for the past two years on Kubuntu, Arch, and Manjaro.
