Description Michael D 2018-10-09 07:50:38 UTC
When I select ADF on my Samsung laser printer, all pages are fed through the feeder but only the fist page is part of the output file.

The same bug is reported here concerning a different scanner: https://bugs.launchpad.net/simple-scan/+bug/1586095

I've installed the latest scanner drivers from the manufacturer, and sheet feeder scanning works just fine on a Mac.

Thanks for the report.

Do you mean that all pages seem to be scanned and you don't get an error message and just the first page is saved or could it be that you get a bunch of separate files? Could it be that you have selected "Open save dialog for the first image only" and that the other images are automatically saved with a sequence number?

The bug on launchpad says that what is missing from Skanlite is the option to select a specific page size, but otherwise the scanning works, but with Simple Scan they get an error message.

Can you also specify a bit more what scanner and what backend you are using?

Thanks,
  Kåre

Perhaps I misread the other report, in which case please forget about it.

I get no error message during on after the scan. I only have the first page saved in the specified folder. I do have "Save mode"

Perhaps I misread the other report, in which case please forget about it.

I get no error message during on after the scan. I only have the first page saved in the specified folder. I do have "Save mode" set to "Open the save dialog for the first image only", but no other files are being save besides the first to the specified folder besides the image of the first page. When I'm attached to my scanner, I can try ADF scanning with the save mode changed.

My scanner is a Samsung M2875fd (multifunction printer) which seems to be using the sane backend that I have installed, but I've no idea to check whether that's the case. "scanimage -L" returns the same devices as skanlite does when first starting it and it shows "Looking for devices..."

Thanks for the update.

I don't think changing the save mode will have an effect, but trying does not hurt ;)

From googling I figure that it is the smfp backend. I tried to use the default debug environment variable to see if I would get any printouts, but no luck.
Unfortunately this is a proprietary backend that is not easy to debug :(

You could try to start Skanlite with the following command:

SANE_DEBUG_SMFP=16 skanlite

and see if you get any debug printout and post it here if you get any.

Does it seem to actually scan the pages or does it just feed the rest through after the first page?
