Plasma (blue) on top, Cinnamon (green) below

Hi there, I've just switched from Cinnamon to Plasma 5.13 and I'm loving it. (openSUSE Tumbleweed current, Qt 5.11.2, Plasma 5.13.5, and KF5 5.50.0)

But I absolutely hate the way it wraps and truncates filenames on the Desktop. I depend on my Desktop for organizing active projects, so this is a really important limitation for me. As a test, I created the following files on my Plasma desktop (blue) and on my Cinnamon desktop (green):

``````````````
GB-cssa-1789.txt
IP-assignments.txt
IP-assignments (1).txt
strings_of_words.txt
``````````````

In my attached screenshot, notice how strangely Plasma wraps even numbers and truncates words.

In the case of truncated file names with ellipses, I would greatly prefer for it to do so in the *middle* of the filename, so that the extension is still visible. In my example, it would be something like `IP-assi...(1).txt` .

In general, it feels like it needs more intelligence at if/where to truncate text.

Thanks a lot!
