view of vertical bars

SUMMARY

After I wake my system from ram sleep, I will often get various open windows with lots of vertical white bars that something will remain visible, otherwise I can resize the window to clean up the mess.

If I put sleep for a few minutes and quickly wake Linux/KDE I usually don't see the problem, something happen over a much longer period like over night.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Put Linus to sleep, ram suspend, for a long time.
2. Wake system, login
3. Various open windows are unreadable with vertical white bars.

OBSERVED RESULT

Bad re-rending on open windows. This happens very frequently, I had this issues for many months. I've reinstall (clean install) my system many times, each time this bug is there.

EXPECTED RESULT

Clean view open windows before sleep.

SOFTWARE VERSIONS
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.5.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.18.0
Qt Version: 5.5.1

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

This happens both with the default nouveau video driver and the nvidia driver I am using now for my graphic processor: GeForce GT 430. Nvidia driver (384.130).

I have a dual monitor setup res: 1920x1200.

The kde-windows product is for KDE applications on Microsoft Windows.

I'll reassign this to kwin, but it's likely it has nothing to do with kwin and the problem is in the kernel, graphics driver, or some other non-KDE component.

Also, you're using extremely outdated versions of everything. Qt is at 5.11, Frameworks at 5.50, Plasma at 5.12.7. Lots and lots and lots of graphics fixes have gone in since then.

What kind of application is visible in the screen shot? It does not look like a KDE application.
Comment 4 Martin Flöser 2018-10-07 08:55:08 UTC
This is not a problem any KDE application causes. I'm sorry but this just looks like a well known problem of NVIDIA that OpenGL breaks after suspend. The applications in question could provide a workaround for this problem but in the end only NVIDIA can fix it.

You obviously failed to read carefully. I said this happens with the nouveau video driver too!

Any widow will do this, this has nothing to do with the app in the snapshot.

As for everything being outdated I've heard this line before and punting to Qt, kernel, etc. Either someone is really going to look into this bug or not, but really a poor hacker attitude.

I am using your product KDE, if it something you guys rely upon like Qt then you need to communicate this to the right team, get things fixed. This being lazy and closing off legitimate issues sucks.

As for my system it's a Kubuntu 16.04 LTS and I routinely keep my system updated so for myself and a lot of other people this Linux system is good enough and is use. I don't need to be on the bleeding edge just to get a decent KDE experience.

I've seen this happen with dolphin, web browsers, konsole.

You're trying to tell me there is nothing you can do like detect the system coming out of wake and doing a forced re-rending of open windows as a potential fix? The windows on kde somehow do not magically render themself? there is a window manger right? Are you kidding me with you lame reply! What is this, the bottom of the barrel software are not us team?

Fix the problem, put someone on it that gives a dam!

I am not using Kubuntu 18.04 LTS with

KDE Plasma Version: 5.12.6
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.44.0
Qt Version: 5.9.5

The problem still exist, I've attached picture of desktop icon which are messed up with ugly white vertical line that never go away.
