SUMMARY Default Shortcut "Go through the windows of the current application (backwards): ALT+~ " breaks "ALT+4" shortcut in other apps like Firefox or Falkon to change to the tab 4 using a Spanish Keyboard. The num. 4 key and "~" key are the same in a Spanish keyboard. And is impossible for a Spanish keyboard do that combo because to use the "~" symbol we have to press ALTGR+4, then the combination will be ALT+ALTGR+4. The weird thing is: In a fresh user account that combo appears, but If y click in reset to default (in the Global shortcuts window) then that shortcut is removed and Is possible to use ALT+4 in the right way. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Open Firefox or Falkon with 5 tabs and go to the first one. 2. Press ALT+4 to change to the fourth tab. OBSERVED RESULT Don't change to the fourth tab. EXPECTED RESULT Change to the fourth tab. SOFTWARE VERSIONS KDE Plasma Version: 5.13.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.50.0 Qt Version: 5.11.2 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I have had this problem since forever (latin american keyboard), today I finally tracked it down to the same cause on my own before noticing this bug report.
This behavior is still present on KDE 5.+. Currently on Kubuntu 20.04, stock keyboard shortcuts: I checked all assigned defaults, and Alt+4 is unassigned, yet it still doesn't work. Alt+3 and Alt+5 do work, Alt+4 seems to be blocked by some reason.
Just wanted to add my 2 cents: I have an up to date (as of 24 Aug 2022) Neon and I have a keyboard with physical UK layout. In KDE I use following layouts: US, DE (german) and ES (spanish). I'm also affected by the reported bug. I think just activating the spanish layout is enough to reproduce the problem. Even when said layout is not in use.
