Reported originally reported the same thing last year: Bug 380138
Comment 2 Aleix Pol 2018-10-11 16:42:24 UTC
$ appstreamcli search vlc | grep Identifier
Identifier: org.videolan.vlc [desktop-application]
Identifier: vlc.desktop [desktop-application]

appstream is telling us about vlc twice...
Comment 3 Nate Graham 2018-10-22 04:08:18 UTC
So is this a Neon/Ubuntu/Debian packaging bug? Or an AppStream bug? Or something else?
Comment 4 Aleix Pol 2018-10-22 11:36:07 UTC
It's most definitely an issue in appstream. I'm following up with Klumpp about it.
Comment 5 Nate Graham 2018-10-22 14:24:13 UTC
If there's nothing we can or should do on our side, can we close this RESOLVED UPSTREAM?
Comment 6 Aleix Pol 2018-10-23 22:05:25 UTC
Appstream maintainer Mr Klumpp says it's fixed in the next stable version, so it's a matter of making sure it reaches people.

Is the fix available in AppStream 0.12.3?
I have AppStream-0.12.3 on Arch Linux but the bug persists.
