Created attachment 115359 [details] Screenshot of Library panel SUMMARY Clicking Add Clip to Project icon on Library panel or Add Timeline Selection to Library results in no change to the Library display (no library elements added for subsequent reuse). In the "AppData\Roaming\kdenlive\library" folder, I can see the name for the library clip supplied when adding a timeline selection is present as a single .mlt file. Creating a new library folder similarly results in no UI display but the folder is created in AppData. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Define timeline zone using I and O keyboards shortcuts to mark start and end (in/out) 2. Click the Add Timeline Selection to Library icon on the Library panel 3. Enter a name for the clip to be added to the library using the dialog that pops up and press the Ok button OBSERVED RESULT 1. The dialog is dismissed 2. No new items appear in the Library panel (e.g. expect a list of clips) 3. A new .mlt file matching the name of the clip entered is created in "\AppData\Roaming\kdenlive\library" EXPECTED RESULT Clip would be added to list of available library clips (similar to Project Bin panel) SOFTWARE VERSIONS (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: KDE Frameworks Version: 5.47.0 Qt Version: 5.11.1 (built against 5.11.1) MLT Version: 6.11.0 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Add Clip to Library icon also starts out illuminated but otherwise displays similar behaviour to the above and became disabled at one point. Library function is essentially unusable.
I used Kdenlive 18.08.2 on Windows7. After your step 2 comes a message in the library window “select clips in the timeline for library”. I cannot just set in/out points in the timeline and the clips between in/out gets selected. Ones I select some clips in the timeline your step 3 appears and the *.mlt file appears in the library window. What do you do different to me?
I'm now running 18.08.2 as well (on Win 8.1) and getting different results with the library feature. Using the same Steps to Reproduce described above, I can now add a *something* to the library and I can also see the library folders I create. The *something* that gets added to the library actually seems to be whatever clip I have selected in the timeline, albeit without audio or effects/transitions (I use split audio tracks). In answer to your question, I may have been incorrect in my understanding that setting in/out points was required. Perhaps the wording refers to individual clips on the timeline itself? I find if I don't have at least one clip selected, clicking the "Add Timeline Selection" button results in a pop this message: "Select clips in timeline for the library". If I select multiple clips, I get a library item which, when added to the project, appears as a white background in the clip monitor (so none of the actual video I added--with the exception of a title clip).
You are right. It seems the whole library function as descript here: https://kdenlive.org/en/project/the-library-copy-paste-between-projects/ doesn’t work in anymore (even under Linux).
There are some know issues with the expand clip function for library clips (https://invent.kde.org/multimedia/kdenlive/-/issues/300) but this bug seems to be resolved. So can you please test with the latest version (20.12.2 at the moment, https://kdenlive.org/en/download/) and close this report if it is not relevant anymore?
