In the brush editor, if you go to a pixel engine preset and the pattern area. Click on one of the patterns that come with a bundle. There is a chance it is going to have a really long file name like my attachment. In this case the whole brush editor gets large and doesn't shrink down unless I restart Krita.

There is the same effect in the Patterns docker where a pattern with a very long path/filename causes the docker to expand in width (even if docked) and it can not be manually reduced by dragging.

If you then select a pattern with a short path/filename, the Pattern docker can be manually dragged back to the required size.

I confirm that this is now fixed (for Patterns docker and Brush Editor) in the 4.2.0 pre-alpha (e94e365) appimage.
