Description Alex 2018-09-15 12:56:46 UTC
When switching virtual desktops in a setup with two monitors, both monitors switch to a second desktop, i.e. 1,2 -> 3,4 when you number all visible desktops.

It would be nice to have the option to only shift one desktop, i.e. 1,2 -> 2,3.
This would mean that the content of monitor 2 is now on monitor 1 and desktop 3 is now visible on monitor 2.

This way you could place programs on desktop 2, which are used together with programs on 1 and when you switch together with programs on desktop 3.

Can't be done whilst following the current X virtual desktop protocol.

Is there any news on this? Could this be implemented with more recent X extensions or maybe on Wayland?
