Left app open overnight....came back to it and when I move to a different part of the timeline, the preview video has funky colors/bars that come on the preview screen...Here is an example using a screen share vid software.

Linux and QT is newer than Kdenlive 17.08.03. If you have effects on the clips, that could be the reason for the crash. Try with the newest AppImage 18.08. With this version some bugs are solved. And switch off GPU acceleration s Movit is not stable.

This is fixed in latest version. Please test using latest appimage and reopen if you encounter any issue...
