Created attachment 114769 [details] discover no uncheck all button in updates list I have a list of updates in Discover. I only want to update one application, not everything, I see no option to unselect all, so I can check only what I want. Please add that option. I've added a screenshot. For example I only want to update Slack right now, and the rest later, when I get WiFi.
Ah yes, I have wanted this too, for the exact same use case.
The idea in this case was to just open one application page to trigger the update. At the moment we are only showing a Remove button then. I think that fixing that would be better than fiddling with the checkboxes.
Huh, that never occurred to me. Apparently it never occurred to Ovidiu Florin either. :) I think as long as the main list UI allows checking and unchecking packages, that's probably what users are going to assume is the tool for restricting what to update or updating only one thing.
Take the example of Android updates: A list of applications that can be updates. Each one has an "Update" button, and on top of all is an "Update All" button. Of counse if I go to the page of any of the apps I can update only that specific application. Take the example of Windows updates: A list of updates is available, and I can check or uncheck any update. Also on top of them all is a checkbox that checks/unchecks all updates. -------------------- Keeping these scenarios in mind, and the usecase that I've presented, I believe that a checkbox that can check/uncheck all updates is still necessary. You should not expect the comfortable user to have to click through each application it wants to update from the list of updates. That's a large amount of clicks and navigation involved. For each app, you'd have to open it from the list of updates, click on update, click back, click another app, etc. Being in the updates list, the user is already in the right place for installing updates. Having to redirect the user seems non-intuitive and extra work for the user. ---------------------- To reiterate, I'm not against Aleix's idea. I'm completely for it. But I don't believe that should be the ONLY OPTION of selectively installing updates.
