Created attachment 114759 [details] This is how a jpeg appears: please, note the epty white areas in the middle o the most underexposed areas of the foto When opened with Showfoto, jpeg images are white in the most underexposed areas, which are supposed to be pure black and without any detail. The images appear correctly in the sidebar, though. If the image is inverted, these white areas remain white rather than turning to black. Digikam doesn't allow browsing among folders (location) other than wallpapers. Also, it does'show among applications available to open jpeg files, although it has been installed.
Which showfoto version do you use ? On right bottom side of statusbar you have 2 buttons to turn on/off the under/over exposed area from image. Did you use this options. Look also the relevant settings from Editor Window setup dialog. Gilles Caulier
Hi; I missed indicating the Showfoto version, which is 5.6.0, as downloaded from Ubuntu (Bionic Beaver) applications. I am new to Ubuntu and hope my question is not a silly one. I love Showfoto because of the easy access to EXIFF data and relevant manipulation tool. Elio.
Great! Now I love it. Thanks and forgive me if I reported as a bug what was actually my ignorance. One last question: should I upgrade to a more recent version of showfoto? Thanks in advance. Elio Napolitano.
Upgrade the system version, no, but we provide a digiKam Linux AppImage bundle where Showofoto is present and available from command line as option. As you don't use digiKam, i recommend to use the 6.0.0 pre-release bundles that we update frequently with the current implementation. Note : between 5.x and 6.0.0, the digiKam database schema change, but as you use only Showfoto, this have no effect. Showfoto don't use digiKam DB. Files are there : https://files.kde.org/digikam/ Read well the README file: http://www-ftp.lip6.fr/pub/X11/kde-applicationdata/digikam/README Gilles Caulier
