issue kmail:
upating from kde apps 18.04 to 18.08 from open suse repository, sending email via smtp is not more possible. receiving via pop3 is ok.

returning to kde apps 18.04, receiving (pop3) and sending (smtp) is fine.

seems to be solved in kontact 5.9.1
