It is almost certain in big collections there will be files with the same name. When selecting ALL photo's in database and doing RMB -> group -> group selected by filename, the result is that there will be cross-album groups. Although there might be situations where you want this, I think from the most natural point of view it is undesirable. Anyway, in case I am missing the good side of this, a solution does not have to replace this feature. The suggestion is to have an option for grouping of JPEG and RAW, but only on album (folder) level. It would be even more nice if this AUTOmatically happens instead of having to do it manually each time. Cheers!
Yes, that's right. It is possible to group every image in the database. I have not thought about it, but I think it's intended. I see no reason to change it, there are certainly users who have been using it for a long time. Simon, how do you see that? Maik
Kick. I would like to group all JPGs and NEFs in albums, but (correct me if I am wrong) there is no easy way to do this except for doing it to every individual album. I suggest a global option to enable automatic grouping for albums. Further details: My collection tree is like: 2019a Holiday in country X\2019-01-20a Roadtrip Y\DSC_1234.JPG 2019a Holiday in country X\2019-01-20a Roadtrip Y\DSC_1234.NEF Therefore, last time when I tried, selecting multiple albums and creating a group results in cross-album groups. No justification for that, right? So that makes this functionality pretty useless.
Hi Sebas, If you JPEG and NEF are located in separated physical album, just tag files with same keywords, labels, flags, and use virtual albums to group items. The feature to group items from different places will not be changed. Best regards Gilles Caulier
