Description britalmeida 2018-08-27 18:11:58 UTC
Personally, I would like Bluetooth to be disabled (and therefore only visible in the extras) until I manually enable it.
However:
- I can't find an option to disable bluetooth on start.
- Even after I manually disable it, it shows in the panel instead of in the extras.

Can't reproduce. Bluetooth hides in the popup when disabled. You can completely disable it by going to Bluetooth settings → Advanced Settings → Uncheck "Enable Bluetooth integration"

Can you confirm how you're disabling it? Through the checkboxes on the "general" page or "Entries" page? If so which visibility did you choose?

Screenshots also work.

Please set the bug status back to unconfirmed when replying.

When I login, I see the bluetooth icon on the panel and it looks ON.

In Bluetooth configuration, I have
- Advanced Settings > "Enable Bluetooth integration" - off
- Adapters > "Powered" - on (it always comes back to on)
- Adapters > "Visibility" - "Always Visible" (because I want to always see the icon if bluetooth is on, that's what I think this means)

On the system tray settings:
- "Categories" are all on
- In "Extra Items" I have the checkbox for "Bluetooth (Automatic load)"
- "Entries" tab > Bluetooth says Auto.

If I disable Configuration > Powered, the panel Icon will be grey, but it doesn't disappear into the extras.

Note: I think turning bluetooth on/off is quite a basic setting, I'm surprised it is on the Advanced Settings. I would expect both a On/Off toggle and a checkbox "Turn On Bluetooth on Start".

Note: Note:) I'll be going on vacations for a week, so I may take a while replying again.

Can con confirm whether this is still happening for you in Plasma 5.18 (or even better, git master, using Neon Dev unstable or one of the unstable repos for Arch, openSuse, Kubuntu etc.)? I like to run my system in the same way and it works perfectly for me.
